Mac mini

Gamork lives!

Well, it's been about 3 weeks now and I feel like I'm finally getting settled down with my new Mac mini, Gamork. There are quite a few things I like about my Mac mini, and I feel pretty good about the whole setup in general. The only thing I haven't gotten working yet is my printer (shared on a windows machine). Nonetheless my overall satisfaction with the system is very high, and I'm looking forward to adding a MacBook to my family of computers. Read on to hear more about my particular setup.

Tuesday the 14th

I dragged my butt out of bed a little earlier this morning than I normally do. I think I was just awake enough that I figured I might as well get up. It's a little weird, and I'm sure I'll pay for it later. Today is probably just going to be a whole lot of waiting on my part, because all the interesting things in my week are happening (probably) tomorrow.

Exciting item #1: World of Warcraft patch 3.0 hits.
Most of the people who read this will not care, but 3.0 is an exciting advancement of the game in preparation for the next expansion "Wrath of the Lich King". It is adding quite a few upgrades to the game and I will be there participating.

Exciting item #2: My Mac mini should arrive.
Tom will not give me the tracking number, so I cannot say for certain, but the Mac mini should be arriving soon and I've been loading up my dropbox and prepping files for transfer to the new system. Very exciting. Oooh, I need to go find my KVM.

Exciting item #3: Apple is announcing updates to their laptop line.
Apple is having a press event tomorrow to announce and update to their entire line of laptop products. High on the list of desirables is the upgrade to their MacBook line. The new update is rumored to have a new high speed graphics chip, and a sub $1000 price tag.

Exciting item #4: I should be hearing about job stuff.
It might be any time this week, but with any luck I will be hearing from people this week about whether I've been accepted into this new position I've applied for. I've gone from "cautiously optimistic" to "ready to have my heart broken" this weekend. Fingers crossed.

My entry into the world of OS X

A friend of mine who I've been helping out a lot in the last couple of months decided that he wanted to get me something to thank me for all my help. A couple of days later and we decided on a Mac mini.

In the next week or so I'll be setting up my Mac desktop. I'm pretty excited.
